The Nagara style temple architecture was established during the reign of Gupta dynasty during 4th century to 6th century CE, in the northern region of modern India and is much prevalent style used even in modern day of India.
The five main characteristics of Nagara style are,
- Square foot print, with flat & larger span roof.
- Multi-floored temples.
- The shikhara consists of cylindrical Shikhara & Panchaya tana temple.
- Horse-shoe (absidal) shaped temple.
- Circular shaped temple.
